Sinfield loved working with the band and, in addition to writing the phantasmagorical lyrics that came to be part of King Crimson's trademark, he also ran the group's light-show at their concerts.
Sinfield remained associated with EG Management, which represented King Crimson and Roxy Music, and it was while producing a Roxy Music album that he decided to try his own hand at recording.

 Peter Sinfield
Peter Sinfield is a man who has an impressive resume.
Sinfield’s vocals were appropriate to each song, celebratory or sly as the lyrics called for, but his voice was a bit thin – a “composer’s” voice rather than a “singer’s” voice – and it’s easy to understand why he did not go on to pursue a career as a solo singer/songwriter.
Sinfield paced the album, treating each side of the original LP as a complete work, which starts relatively quietly and builds from there.

The only casualty during the remainder of the year was Peter Sinfield, who split with Fripp in December after the latter asked him to leave.
Peter Sinfield's successor as lyricist was Richard Palmer-James, who was otherwise invisible in the lineup.
