Peter Alan Stollery (born November 29, 1935) is a Canadian politician and businessman.
In 1981, Stollery was appointed to the Canadian Senate on the recommendation of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
Stollery is currently Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Peter Stollery's family owns Frank Stollery's clothing store at the corner of Yonge Street and Bloor Street in Toronto, hence his designation in the Canadian Senate as Senator for "Bloor and Yonge'".
He was first elected to the Canadian House of Commons as a Liberal in the 1972 Canadian election and re-elected in 1974, 1979 and 1980 and served for a time as Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus.
In 1981 Stollery was appointed to the Senate by Pierre Trudeau in order to free up his riding for the entry into parliament of James Coutts, however, Coutts was upset in what had been a safe Liberal seat by Dan Heap of the New Democratic Party in the subsequent by-election.

Canada's meagre military contribution in Africa is a disgrace, longtime Liberal Senator Peter Stollery charged on Tuesday.
Stollery said he believed the limited presence of Canadian troops in the continent was a result of military officials believing it was not as "sexy" as helping the U.S. by fighting in Afghanistan.
Stollery called Afghan President Hamid Karzai "a stooge" in May, drawing criticism from the Conservative government.

He was first elected Alderman (later City and Metro Councillor) for Toronto's Ward 6, where he served for a decade.
When the Liberal Member of Parliament for Spadina, Peter Stollery, was appointed to the Senate in 1981, Heap decided to run in the subsequent by-election.
Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau has recommended Stollery for appointment to the Senate in order open the "safe Liberal riding" for his advisor Jim Coutts.

Andrew, Tom and Peter were tuning up for this weeks worlds.
I will be taking as many pix as I can with close ups of some of the more interesting boats.
