  Peter Strasser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Strasser was born in Hanover, Germany on April 1, 1876.
Strasser was promoted by imperial cabinet decree to Führer der Luftschiffe (FdL), with the same rank as an Admiral second-class, on November 28, 1916 as a result of his efforts.
Strasser's impact on both the war and history was important for the future air warfare.

Peter Strasser (April 1, 1876 - August 6, 1918) Chief Commander of Germany’s Luftschiffer airforce during World War I. He was the main leader of the Zeppelins command and in charge, operating bombing campaigns from 1915 to 1918.
On August 5-6, 1918, during a planned night raid on Britain, Strasser’s Zeppelin, with himself and 22 men on board, was spotted by English reconissance over the southern North Sea.
Strasser’s impact on both the War and history was important for the future warfare.

In mid 1918 Captain Peter Strasser, Commander of the German Navy's Airship Division, proposed to Admiral Scheer that the new L-70 class Zeppelin allowed intercontinental air raids.
He suggested bombing raids on the East Coast of the United States to force aircraft, pilots, and antiaircraft artillery to be diverted to home defense, rather than be shipped to Europe.
Strasser's death on 5 August 1918, when the L-70 was shot down with the loss of all hands over England, put an end to any such planning.
