Peterborough (2004 population 74,600 and the metropolitan population numbers 102,423) is a city on the Otonabee River in central-eastern Ontario, Canada, 125km northeast of Toronto.
Peterborough is incorporated as a town in 1850 (population 2,191).
In mid-2001, 18.1 per cent of the resident population in Peterborough were of retirement age (65 and over for males and females) compared with 13.2 per cent in Canada, therefore, the average age is 40.6 years of age comparing to 37.6 years of age for all of Canada.

The Township of Cavan-Millbrook-North Monaghan is located in central-eastern Ontario, Canada in Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada, about twenty kilometers southwest of the city of Peterborough.
By 1819 there were 244 settlers, and by 1861 the population had risen to 4901, many of whom were descendants of United Empire Loyalists, veterans of the War of 1812 who had been granted land there, or the original and later settlers from Ireland.
Cavan and Millbrook Townships became part of Peterborough County in 1974, and were amalgamated, along with North Monaghan, into one Township in 1998.
