The Peterson 260SE is a STOL conversion of a Cessna 182 airframe made by Todd Peterson.
The Wren 460 was a conversion of the Cessna 182 airframe that had full-span double-slotted flaps, movable spoilers in leu of ailerons for roll control and a movable high-lift canard.
The Peterson 260SE is the next-generation STOL conversion for the Cessna 182.

The company was seeking approval for landings under conditions of zero visibility shortly before the company went into bankruptcy in the late 1960's.
Todd Peterson acquired the Supplemental Type Certificate for the Wren and produced a number of them in the early 1980's under the designation 460P.
On the 260SE the wing modifications are absent.

I flew the 260se home in high/hot conditions, and used higher than optimal climb airspeeds to baby the new engine during break-in.
Cruise: advertised at 153 KTAS @75%; the Petersons note that this depends on how "straight" the original airframe was built at the factory.
It is very maneuverable at slow speeds; in a forced landing the 260se must dissipate only 50-55% of the kinetic energy of the sr20 and can use a smaller landing area.

For the 260SE, we chose the rugged and well-proven Cessna 182 airframe.
Its large cabin, high useful load, and its cross country capability made it the logical choice.
If you would like a custom-built airplane, or would like to supply your own airframe for modification, call for our next available production slot.

As you may remember this is a fixed gear Cessna 182P with a Peterson modification.
Since I've never flown one of these Peterson machines I thought I'd pull the nose up at 60 knots and climb out around 80 knots, just like I'm used to.
I've noticed that anytime I'm around some of the Peterson owners they always seem to be smiling, now I know why.
