		Petoro AS was founded on 9 May 2001 as a state-owned limited company to serve as the new manager for the SDFI portfolio.
		Petoro is responsible for managing, on behalf of the government and on commercial terms, the SDFI portfolio of production licences and those pipelines and land-based plants in which the state has direct interests at any given time.
		Petoro is charged with monitoring that sales of the petroleum produced from the SDFI accord with the instruction issued by the MPE to Statoil.
