Thorne (1997, 1999) does not accept this profound separation as he retains both families in his Triuridales and assigns the Triuridanae to the basal-most position in his Liliidae.
Interestingly, Dahlgren (1989) reduced Petrosaviaceae to synonymy under a greatly enlarged Melanthiaceae in his Liliales (Lilianae).
