Petticoat Junction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Petticoat Junction was an American situation comedy that was produced by Filmways, Inc. and originally aired on the CBS network from 1963 to 1970.
The "petticoats" of the otherwise obscure title referred to the many women of the Shady Rest Hotel; in the opening sequence, it was implied that Kate Bradley's three daughters swam nude in a water tower, with their petticoats hung over the side.
Petticoat Junction was cancelled in the spring of 1970 due to declining ratings, a full year before the infamous purge by CBS of the other shows that, in the words of Pat Buttram, "had a tree in them."

Helping her to run the hotel were her three beautiful daughters, Billie Jo, Bobby Jo and Betty Jo, as well as the girls uncle (not surprisingly called Joe), who assumed the mantle of hotel manager.
There was eventually a spin-off series to Petticoat Junction called Green Acres, which was set just a few miles 'down the road' and as a result of this characters would pop up from time to time in each-others series.
The comedy began to suffer though when Benadaret missed a number of episodes due to ill health, which sadly led to her death before the start of the sixth series.

BBC - Comedy Guide - Petticoat Junction
Petticoat Junction was almost but not quite a spin-off from The Beverly Hillbillies and both were born of the same clever creator, Paul Henning, the doyen of rural comedy.
Sadly, the series dropped a notch or two when Benaderet missed many latter episodes through ill-health and then died before the sixth US season (at which point June Lockhart was brought in), but its place as one of the best-loved and most durable of US sitcoms was already assured.
*Note: Following the initial ITV screenings, BBC1 acquired Petticoat Junction and broadcast 25 colour episodes on Tuesday afternoons from 11 September 1973 to 16 April 1974.
