The Peugeot 407 is a mid-size automobile produced by the French manufacturer Peugeot since 2004.
The 407 was the successor to the hugely successful Peugeot 406, and was launched on May 27, 2004 after first being presented in concept car form with the name "407 Elixir" at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on Peugeot SA's new middle/upper segment vehicle platform, the new 407 is positioned at the upper end of the European midsize segment.

The 407 is a worthy successor to the 406, which is a good quality vehicle and did Peugeot's image a lot of good.
Peugeot has also given a lot of attention to the 407's build quality, and there is no doubt the company has succeeded.
Peugeot can be proud of the 407 and the company can even be more proud that with the 407 it has addresses the issue of affordable motoring.

Peugeot’s ambitions for the 407 are realistically in line with a class that has fallen from 27 per cent of the market, at the launch of the 405 in 1989, to just 17 per cent in 2003.
I’d say the 407 moves to the top of the class as the driver’s choice, not least because it can be driven very quickly without the passengers ever really being aware the driver is being thoroughly entertained.
Inside, the 407 is a step ahead of the 406 in fit and finish and plastic quality, though the velour and plastic wood of the test car looked and felt cheap, and still trails the better German rivals.

The 407 uses a very rigid body – it’s claimed to have a torsional rigidity higher than Peugeot has ever before achieved on a road car – and this can be felt on the road.

Peugeot, that's who, and this is the latest car to carry this fearful, gaping visage: the new 407 coupé;.
The 407 coupé;, which is, of course, based on the 407 saloon, costs several thousand pounds more than an equivalent-engined four-door, yet it does nothing that the saloon can't do, and actually falls short in several other areas - most notably, number of doors.
