Phaedra married King Theseus of Athens and gave him two sons; but she also fell in love with her stepson Hippolytus 4.
After Phaedra had given birth to two sons, she fell in love with her stepson Hippolytus 4, the son of the Amazon, and this is the reason why she erected a temple of Aphrodite beside the Acropolis, on the spot when Troezen can be seen across the water.
Phaedra and Theseus visited that city from time to time, and it was during one of these visits that she asked Hippolytus 4 to lie with her.

The album is an embryonic take on what the band were about to become, and has some brilliant moments along with some meandering.
That album, in particular, stretched the ideas of the early incarnation to the limit, creating an enormous double album of monstrous, slow moving sound, eliciting fairly extreme reactions from listeners one way or another.
This album is often considered the last gasp of a brilliant group whose level of quality would significantly plummet in the coming decade, though to be fair, I haven't ventured into their 80s material yet myself.

Ground and Sky review - Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
The watershed album for Tangerine Dream was this, their first release for Virgin Records, Phaedra.
What made Phaedra different from Tangerine Dream's earlier albums was the use of the sequencer (the band had used sequencers on their previous recording, Green Desert, but that album was not released until much later), a device that was a crucial component of the band's classic style.
Phaedra is a landmark album of 1970s electronic music and was also Tangerine Dream's most accessible and "musical" to date.

"Phaedra", made in 1974, is the music of the futurepast, of a place which perhaps could never exist yet somehow always has.
