Over years of research the pharmaceutical industry has come to the conclusion that waste minimization and other forms of pollution prevention are far more effective than pollution control, remediation of past problems, and protecting specific environmental media through end-of-pipe treatments and pollution controls.
For example, the industry itself had one of the highest inspection rates of any other type of industry, and with this, it developed a high enforcement-to-inspection rate as well as a high percent of facilities inspected with violations.
