Phelsumaguimbeauiguimbeaui is one of the daygecko's originating from the island Mauritius.
The real reason however, is that due to tourism and economic growth, complete forests were cut down to make room for residential areas and agriculture.
In other words nature overthere is becoming scarce, the logical result is a decrease in the amount of Phelsuma's.

Phelsumaguimbeaui is one of the Phelsuma species originating from the island Mauritius, (the others species are Phelsuma cepediana, Phelsuma rosagularis and Phelsuma ornata).
Phelsumaguimbeaui is a mid size species with a thick body.
Breeding Phelsumas is not very difficult, you need one male and one female and when the circumstances are modest to good, they start breeding quite easily.

I have not read this, but maybe it have something to do with last years studys on Phelsuma DNA, were Phelsumaguimbeaui and Phelsuma rosagularis are far from oneother.
Surprisingly but in agreement with data from Peter Sound Phelsumaguimbeaui and Phelsuma rosagularis were more distantly related than for example Phelsumaguimbeaui and Phelsuma ornata.
