Trust me, I'm a doctor - [Sunday Herald]
FOR all his fresh-faced Milky-Bar-kid blondness, Dr Phil Hammond is a desperately driven man. He confesses, more than once, to feeling guilty Ð about the lives he has failed to save, the bad practice he has exposed, even the fact that he once resorted to private health care.

Hammond rails against the culture of secrecy that means the performance of individual surgeons cannot be compared; he is scathing of self-serving doctors who would rather operate dangerously than hand over work they are not qualified to do; and he castigates the cover-ups that still take place when things goes wrong.
