I arrived at Wessex Archaeology on a cold, wet and windy afternoon and was met by the big grin and firm handshake of Phil Harding.
Phil showed me some of the examples that had come from the site before my visit: hand-axes of a comfortable weight and fine shape that felt as good to hold today as they must have done to the craftsmen that made them some 200,000 years before.

Mr Harding, from Derby, and his colleague, a sergeant with the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police, were eventually rescued by a Cuban tug boat.

In 1984 Phil left the Marquee Studios to be chief engineer at PWL Studios which soon became nicknamed 'The Hit Factory'.
In 1992 Phil and Ian set up their own studio at The Strongroom Studio complex in London and under the guidance of manager Tom Watkins produced and wrote many hits for East 17 (including No 1 single 'Stay Another Day') and Deuce.

I am not pretending to be representative of the general public, but personally I still think that if a movement against climate change is to grow it needs to become integrated with - though not swallowed up by - the global justice movement.
Phil's concerns that we need to distinguish climate change from other “global justices” because the threat is so massive and unprecedented are notable; but the fact is that unlike many other noble causes, climate change is not even on most people's radar.

In direct contrast to Wonderland's poor fortune, all four singles from The Circus - 'Sometimes', 'It Doesn't Have To Be', 'Victim Of Love' and the title track 'The Circus' - were hits, while the album itself rocketed to the top of the UK charts.
Three bonus tracks are included on the CD, the 'new' mix of 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' (from the limited 12" of 'It Doesn't Have To Be'), the 12" mix of 'Sometimes' (by Erasure and Flood) and the 'Boop Oopa Doo' mix of 'It Doesn't Have To Be' (by Phil Harding).
The Circus was the album that introduced Erasure to the mainstream, and it truly is a masterstroke borne out of commitment and sheer hard work.
