Philip Mahre (born May 10, 1957, Yakima, Washington) is a former American professional alpine skier, and widely regarded as one of the greatest American skiers of all time.
He won the silver medal in slalom at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics in 1980, and 4 years later in Sarajevo, won the gold medal in the same event (his twin brother Steve Mahre won the silver medal).
Mahre won the most prestigious title in Alpine skiing - the Overall World Cup Title - three (3) times consecutively from 1981 through 1983.

The "younger" Mahre remembers the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo mostly as the day he won the silver in the slalom behind his brother "by 21 one-hundredths of a second." But things easily could have been reversed that day; the twins had traded one-two finishes on the World Cup circuit for years.
Both Steve and Andy, as well as Phil and his son, Alex, are helping to promote a statewide fitness program being launched Feb. 14 called Lighten Up Washington, urging youths and adults to become more active, particularly outdoors.
Mahre says his "office" is outside -- just the way he likes it -- and he plays as many sports as he can to stay active.
