Zakk went to Italy in early May 1998 to do a one-off show by himself, and then he called up Phil Ondich (due to Nick Catanese recommending him as the drummer to use...) and what became Sonic Brew was recorded in May 1998 in Miama, FL.
Zakk and Phil decided to call the band "Hell's Kitchen" and the album was to be called "Sonic Brewery." Phil designed all of the artwork and layed out the booklet for the album.
When BLS got to Indiana on July 6th, 2000, about 3 songs into the set, there was a brawl on stage between Zakk and Phil, and Phil was fired from the band.

Yet again Phil did all of the artwork and the album was released in Japan on March 8th, 2000, with a US release on April 18th.

To be blunt, nothing on the record sounds as if it's designed for the year 2000 -- it sounds like classic '80s metal.
Phil Mogg & Pete Way's 1999 album Chocolate Box finds them returning to their UFO style of space metal, particularly on tracks like "Muddy's Gold," "Jerusalem," and "King of the City," which showcase Mogg's strong singing and songwriting skills.

Towards the end of the tour in Roanoke, Virginia, Phil met Zakk a second time and gave him a tape of him playing with a a band called Raging Slab.
Zakk went to Italy in early May 1998 to do a one-off show by himself, and then he called up Phil Ondich (due to Nick Catanese recommending him as the drummer to use...) and what became Sonic Brew was recorded in May 1998 in Miama, FL.
The drums and vocals were buried on some of the tracks towards the end of the disc, so it was decided to remix it for the US release.

According to ZAKK WYLDE's management, drummer Phil Ondich is looking for a new stool to sit on.
EDGUY's website, www.edguy.nu, reports that the band's album, The Savage Poetry, is available in only two formats: 1) a two-CD set featuring the brand new 2000 version plus the original 1995 version, and 2) a single CD of the new version plus two bonus tracks, 'Falling Down' (alternate chorus) and 'Fairytale' (live in Milan).

10-27-04: Recently, I got the chance to work with former Black Label Society drummer Phil "Philth" Ondich on a guest appearance for Kansas City's L.I.E.; I engineered Phil's drum track here at my home studio, and the band will be recording the rest of the track at their studio in Kansas.
The track, "Die Trying" will appear as the title track on their album sometime early next year.

Currently, Wylde and band are performing in the states on the Penchant For Violence Tour with Crowbar and Sixty Watt Shaman, in support of their latest release, Stronger Than Death (Spitfire), but unfortunately, shortly after the start of the first leg of the US tour, disaster has already struck twice.
After playing five songs at a recent performance at the Sun Theater in Orange County, California, drummer Phil "Philth" Ondich became so sick that he dropped from the kit and had to be hospitalized.
It seems that he may have been struck down by some sort of Japanese flu strain.

 Black Label Society CD Reviews
Although not even one song on the album even comes close to sucking, there is one tune, "Peddlers of Death," that comes a little too close to the classic Black Sabbath sound - its driving guitar riff sounds a little too much like Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf." Still a great tune, however.
From what we gather, Zakk Wylde plays all guitars on this CD and drinking partner Phil Ondich supplies the drums.
Not a classic but it will rock your world.

Reviews I have read on this album say such things as "nothing on the record sounds as if it's designed for the year 2000, it sounds like classic '80s metal" or "this disc sounds like outtakes from Ozzy's last two discs." However, this is just not the case.

Heavy-Metal Alternative-Metal act headed by New Jersey-native guitarist Zakk Wylde, best known for his long collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne, the guitarist began to start his first side project in 1995, three years later he formed Black Label Society with drummer Phil Ondich and released "Sonic Brew", after several changes the band embarked on international tour.
In the winter of 1999/2000, Wylde and Ondich entered the studio in California to cut their sophomore effort, "Stronger Than Death", which was released the following April; in October, that same year, the group recorded the live-set "Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live".
