Philip Gerald Givens (born April 24, 1922) is a former Mayor of Toronto, Member of Parliament and judge.
Givens ran for the Canadian House of Commons in the 1957 Canadian election and 1958 Canadian election but was defeated in his bid to become MP for Spadina.
After retiring from politics in 1977 Givens was given a judicial appointment.

In the new film “Capote,” actor Philip Seymour Hoffman and director Bennett Miller look at the life of writer Truman Capote and his emotional journey while writing his non-fiction novel, “In Cold Blood.”
The novel was based on the murder of a Kansas family in 1959 and the conviction of the family’s killers, Perry Smith and Dick Hickock.
However, the film is based on Gerald Clarke’s 1988 biography of Capote.

 Philip Marlowe in Film, Television and Radio
Gerald Mohr excelled as Marlowe, and his snappy delivery, coupled with well-written stories and intriguing characters makes for entertaining listening.
Philip Carey, a big, tough and usually watchable actor, would seem to have been a decent choice to play Marlowe in 1959.
Not the Philip Marlowe novel but an adaptation of the original, unproduced screenplay that he eventually turned into the last Marlowe book, all about a Vancouver cop trying to get to the bottom of some nasty business and help a dame out of a jam.
