Quast, who comes from Tamworth, NSW, where his parents have a turkey farm, knows he is taking a hop, step and a long jump into the big time; he is very apprehensive about what sort of landing he will make.

Philip Quast, the sole male in the quartet of singers who make up this year's Divas at the Donmar series, opened Aug. 20.
Whether this was a reflection of Quast's personal popularity or a sign of the cumulative effect of a very well-reviewed and enjoyable season of Divas is unclear, but this third hit in a row suggests that cabaret is a popular art form.
Philip Quast is at the Donmar until Aug. 24, and Kristin Chenoweth plays there from Aug. 26-31.

I, like many people first heard Philip Quast on the live cast recording of Les Mis, though I didn't actually get to put a face to the voice until the 10th anniversary concert of Les Mis when he reprised his role of Javert.
This is Philip's first solo album, which is amazing considering the large number of musicals that Philip has acted in and has recorded cast albums for.I was there the evening that the Live at the Donmar album was recorded.
For those who already know of Philip's considerable talent, both for acting and for music, this, surprisingly Philip's first solo album, is definitely one to have, for those who as yet are not so familiar with his work, this will be a wonderful introduction to this amazing man.

Philip Quast stepped in to the spotlight to sing the impassioned song ‘I Was Here’ a song he sang at the Donmar Theatre Diva season last year.
The lighter moments were many, Philip Quast did a wonderful piece called American Student Actors where he did his relaxing exercises, warm up exercises, method exercises and at one point got down on the floor to do some very impressive press-ups.

I should warn everyone that there is no guarantee that Philip will come with the play - or even that the play will come at all at this stage.
After all, if Philip is contracted to the RSC for the London season of Secret Garden and that happens to be on in March, then I guess he won't be going to New York.
