Since Paul commanded Timothy to do the work of an evangelist, and Philip certainly was one, there is no basis to conclude that the office of the evangelist has been discontinued.
While the pastor is in one location at one local church, and the evangelist by his very nature is moving from place to place, that does not mean that the evangelist is any less important to the church.
Even for those who claim that there is no office of the evangelist despite Philip, and the books of Ephesians and 2 Timothy, to be consistent, they would need to fire their Sunday school teachers and Christian school teachers since they are not found in Scripture.
