Philippe was born December 7, 1602 in Leiden, the Netherlands, the son of Jan Lano (1570-1604) of Tourcoing and Marie le Mahieu of Lille, both in Walloon Flanders, then part of the Spanish Netherlands.
Philippe's grandfather, Guillebert de Lannoy, was an early Calvinist who left the mainland for England probably in the early 1570's and then, in 1591, settled with his family in Leiden.
As a teenager, Philippe Delano was a member of the Leiden Walloon Church (Waalse Kerk) and later entered the Separatist congregation established by the Pilgrims from Plymouth, England under the leadership of the English Separatist John Robinson.

Jane Arminda Delano, born March 13, 1862 in Montour Falls, New York, United States – died April 15, 1919 in Savenay, Loire-Atlantique, France, was a nurse and founder of the American Red Cross Nursing Service.
A descendant of one of the first settlers to America, Philippe de la Noye (Delano) (1602-1681), whose offspring include Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jane Delano attended Cook Academy, a Baptist boarding school in her hometown then studied nursing at the Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing in New York City where she graduated in 1886.
The following year she worked at a Jacksonville, Florida hospital treating victims of a yellow fever epidemic.

Marcia De Lano Ross is the daughter of a direct male-line descendant of Philippe De La Noye, 1602-1681, a Huguenot, who arrived at Plymouth in 1621 on the Fortune.
She is survived by her two younger sisters, Priscilla Alden De Lano Dodds of Kent, Wash., and Shirley Weeks De Lano Ryan of Sugarbush, Franklin County and by her brother, Arthur Addison De Lano and his wife Doris of Biloxi, Miss.
