Her father, Ralph Julius Posoncuy, a l936 graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, was the son of a Chinese immigrant who founded the Chinese school in Tacloban.
He was a general surgeon, who had a sister who was also a medical doctor, another sister who was a dentist, and a younger brother who, at the outbreak of the war, was a medical intern at the Philippine General Hospital.
Certified by the Philippine Board of Neurological Surgeons since l982, she is a member of the Filipino Academy of Neurosurgeons, the Asian Women Neurosurgeons, and the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

The country's premier hospital for the poor has cut by half its admission rate of emergency cases.
Teodoro Herbosa, chairman of the PGH department of emergency medicine, said the government received a 13.3- million-dollar loan from the Spanish government for the modernization of the PGH.
The PGH is coordinating with the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Tondo, Las Piñas District Hospital, Parañaque Community Hospital and Pasay General Hospital for the admission of those that could not be treated at the PGH.
