Philippine peso - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Philippine peso (Filipino: piso) is the official currency of the Philippines.
The Philippines is one of a handful of countries formerly colonized by Spain that use the peso as their currencies, joining countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Argentina (for more information on this, see peso).
The peso has been a floating currency ever since, which means that the currency is a physical representation of the domestic debt and whose value directly tied to people's perception of the stability of the current regime and its ability to repay the debt.

 Philippine Coins
The circulating medium was to be the Philippine silver peso, which was to be legal tender for all debts, public and private, and its value was to be maintained on a parity with the theoretical gold peso.
All of the coins and bills were readily interchangeable with the United States coins in common use, the dollar being worth two pesos, the half dollar one peso, the twenty-five cent piece a half peso, the ten-cent piece a peseta, the five-cent piece a media peseta and the cent two centavos.
Peso coins were made of silver before, but today there is little you can buy for one peso, and the smaller coins have become almost meaningless.

On top of those misprinted 100-Philippine-peso bills - you know, those that misspelled the President’s name - and the conspiracy theories supposedly behind it - a 20-US-dollar note printed on paper with a Del Monte label sticker affixed to it was recently sold at auction for USD 25,300.
On the other hand the “Arrovo” bills are typically sold at collector’s shops for PHP 400, but Manuel Viloria says they can be had off Ebay for just a little more than their face value.
How these errors got past quality control is beyond me. In the case of the fruity dollar bill, I think somebody got careless while eating a banana; he (or she) thoughtlessly stuck the label on some currency paper stock and off it went.
