i daresay my favorite portion of the book has to be the philosophy in the bedroom which rmeinds me somewhat of dangerous liaisons only much more explicit and definately will turn off many a reader.

Probably because Sade is passé, in a world where his most cherished horrors are now boring TV news fodder: war as a cleansing, violence as a purge, sex as punishment -- and Sade offers no perspective on it that we can take to the bank.
The $17 I spent on Philosophy in the Bedroom, I'm probably going to try to earn back when I sell the book off -- it's not the sort of thing I see myself coming back to for another dose of enlightenment.
The best summation (and disposal) of his philosophy was in Camus's chapter in The Rebel wherein he dissects Sade as being the ultimate example of human rage and impotence.
