Bus No.1305 leaves for Phimai every half-hour during the day from Khotat's bus terminal 2, The trip to Phimai (34 Baht) takes from 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the number of passengers that are picked up along the way.
The bus terminal in Phimai is around the corner from the Phimai Hotel and down the street from Prasat Hin Phimai or about 500meters southward from Phimai International Youth Hostel.
The last Phimai bus leaves Khorat bus terminal at about 10 pm;from Phimai the last bus is at 6 pm.

Phimai was an important Khmer economic, religious and military center from about 500-1100 A.D. “Phimai set the precedent for Angkor Wat in terms of Khmer architectural details,” says Levy.
For the Phimai project, Levy is using computer visualization to monitor the site’s medieval stone structures and gauge the impact of the wear-and-tread of tourists.

Built mainly of dusky pink and greyish-white sandstone, it was connected by a direct road to the Khmer capital Angkor and follows the classic precepts of Khmer temple design: a series of walls or galleries punctuated by false balustraded windows, surrounding an inner sanctuary containing several prangs (corn-cob-shaped tower), which house important religious images.
Phimai's magnificent main prang has been restored to its original cruciform groundplan, complete with an almost full set of carved lintels, pediments and antefixes, and capped with a stone lotus bud.

If BB is in blue shorts that's Phimai, while she is in red its Phanom Rung.
Phanom Rung (see right top) was built between the 10th and 13th centuries during the reign of King Suriyavarman II (the one who built Angkor Wat, 1113-50), they call it the apex of Angkor architecture, but if you saw Angkor Wat already, its looks like a promotion sample of it.

Northeast of the city of Khorat lie the ancient ruins of Prasat Phimai.
Construction began in the 10th century under the orders of the Khmer King Jayavarman V. This Angkor-Khmer sanctuary had been reduced to ruins and decay and had been more or less engulfed by the jungle until restoration began in 1964 as a joint project between the Thai and French governments.
Some of the wives of members of management in Ryota's company (from the Japanese branch) came on a tour and were kind enough to invite us along on their sight-seeing.

Phimai ist wohl der bedeutenste Khmertempel auf thailaendischen Boden und daher viel es mir auch gar nicht schwer Phimai nach 1999 ein zweites mal zu besuchen.
Phimai hat den Beinamen das "Angkor Wat Thailands" zu sein.
Auch diesen Tempel wollte ich schon 1999 besuchen, aber leider fur uns damals ein Tuk Tuk Fahrer Khorats in den Zoo anstatt zu diesem Tempel.
