Sebasco Harbor Resort and the village of Sebasco Estates are both part of the town of Phippsburg.
Cornelius Pond (now referred to as Wat-tuh Lake) and many other ponds in Phippsburg were used as ice harvesting farms prior to the invention of the refrigerator.
The Clipper is the only theater in Phippsburg and is used for the resort's summer theater productions, as well as meeting space and social functions including bingo, lobster bakes and rehearsal dinners.

Confronted with poverty and diversity in their midst, the mainland residents were horrified and argued that the island belonged instead to the town of Harpswell, to the south.
Remaining buildings, including a once-viable school, were destroyed by the state, and the graves of residents buried on the island were exhumed and reinterred in unmarked graves on the grounds of the Maine School for the Feeble-Minded.
