When we speak about dance music producers, the Italians strike back, and this project called Neverdogs and composed by Alessio Monizza, Marco de Gregorio and Tommaso Paone, is the most concrete proof.
Released on Presslab, this new disc called “Moltobeat” contains three tracks composed alongside the vocalist Phoebe.
On the A side lies “Moltobeat kick mix”, a nice tune which makes a good fade between breakbeat and prog, building a mazy electro bass line and a peaceful and sweet melody, as well as the bonus vocals from Phoebe.

For a first taste, I liked what I heard - and being able to snag their sophomore album Lechuza for about seven dollars at Target, I was more than willing to make the investment.
Alas, it's not - though the album opener "Phoebe Cates" is still a nice little slab of pseudo-punk energy.
And I will give props to the group - Salazar, guitarist James Love, bassist/vocalist Adam Lewis and drummer/guitarist/vocalist Damon De La Paz - for their harmony vocal work, which is a definite strong point in the band.

Composer, arranger, educator and pianist Dennis Tini took the stage and opened with a delicate yet textured ballad, in which his style revealed - at least to this writer's notice - more than a tinge of Bill Evans.
The show's one disappointement, vocalist Phoebe-Ann Henry then took the stage for her first stint.
As was to emerge throughout the night, Henry is possessed of a sweet voice and a decent range but she just seemed to be lacking the courage of her convictions, the kind of initmacy and unforced familiarity with the material that is demanded by such standards as That's All and Someday My Prince Will Come.

The key is not to think in terms of where you go to hear music — although occasionally you can catch Phoebe Legere at the Iron Horse in Northampton or at the Van Dyck in Schenectady, N.Y. Instead, think about where you go to be challenged by new and provocative works of art.

features both vocalist (and Brian's wife) Michelle Coombes and one time Tristan Park guitarist Mike McAdam.
Romantic relationships, mainly those ending or troubled (the jazzy, brassy, musicially upbeat "Why Then?" which is catchy single material and one of my favourites), are the subject matter for many songs, and the lyrics are introspective across the board (especially "Possessions," which features a neat, though brief, guitar lead from McAdams).
Joining the Coombes', and McAdam on guitars, is Bryan Duff, who also contributes violin on "Phoebe," a song about a relationship of a different sort, that of a parent knowing that one can't always be there to protect a child (at least how I read it).
