Phoenixville is a borough located in Chester County, Pennsylvania, 28 miles (45 km) northwest of Philadelphia at the junction of French Creek with the Schuylkill River.
In its industrial heyday early in the twentieth century, it was an important manufacturing center and it was the site of great iron and steel mills, boiler works, silk mill, underwear and hosiery factories, and a match factory.
Phoenixville was home to Showalter's Dairy until it closed in the early 1980's.

PHOENIXVILLE — Less than one-half hour before the bell rang to signal the end of the school day, someone discovered a written bomb threat in the Phoenixville Area High School for the second time since December.
Phoenixville Police were called to the scene to aid with the investigation as well as to assist with traffic flow and the evacuation of students.
Phoenixville Police Officer Ron Devlin said the message was definitely put there the day of the evacuation, but a specific time was not pinpointed.

According to acting borough Manager Don Edwards, Phoenixville has already received a county grant for $1 million to be used for streetscape improvements, including sidewalk repair, street lights and new trash cans for the business district.
Phoenixville Area Business Association President Ellie Acampora said that her organization has taken a more active role in promoting downtown businesses.
