		In France the period from the official declaration of war on Germany on September 3 until the German invasion of the Benelux and France is known as drôle de guerre ("funny war").
		The Phony War is usually held to have lasted until Nazi Germany's assault on The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg on May 10, 1940.
		A notable event during the Phony War was the Winter War, which started with the Soviet Union's assault on Finland on November 30, 1939.
