	Phreaking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		It is common for phreakers to keep in contact with each other using voice mail and teleconference systems, the former found in most companies, the latter found in larger corporations.
		These are telephone numbers in one country which connect to a number in another country, often used to enable people to speak to an operator in their home country (and language), but also used by larger corporations and government organisations.
		Phreakers may just be interested in the telecommunication world, about the more unknown side of telephones.

		A loss in revenue for a phone company can only occur if the phreaker uses some resource that if not in use would otherwise be used by a paying customer, or if the phreaker herself would have paid for the resource utilization if it had not been attainable for free.
		In fact, phreakers being more cognizant of this fact that the general public will purposely explore the phone system when it is at its lowest capacity times (late at night and on weekends) just to avoid this situation.
		If the phone company were to make this available at a price to phreakers, almost universally they would not be able to afford the price, and would have to stop their gains in knowledge in that subject.

		This is one of the easiest ways a phreaker can use to get free phone calls from a public payphone.
		When you put money into a payphone, it generates a tone that the operator can hear if she is listening in on the line so she knows when money has been inserted.
		As the money starts to run out, the phreaker will play one of the tones down the line again, or will have played them several times when the operator asks for money to be inserted to build up calling credit.
