On the 24th, a local Newspaper, Dainik Jagran, published the news of the raid mentioning that on the direction of NHRC the SDM and some labour officials had raided the kiln of R. Tiwari and later an FIR was filed against him at the Phulpur Police Station under IPC 374.
It is now known that there are some 46 men, women, and children from the Age of 6 years to 70 years who are bonded labourers in the kiln of Rajendra Tiwari.

Bind, who lost the 1998 and 1999 Lok Sabha elections from Phulpur seat, may hope that it could be third-time lucky for him in the wake of sharp polarisation of voters on the caste lines in this constituency.

One hundred twenty eight persons were affected in Iswarganj upazila, 577 persons in Phulpur, 282 in Haluaghat, 220 in Trishal, 198 in Phulbaria, 113 in Muktagacha, 72 in Bhaluka, 54 in Dhubaura while nine persons were affected in Gouripur upazila.
He also informed that there are cases of diarrhoea in Sadar, Phulpur and Iswarganj upazilas claiming that the situation improved further than that of the previous month as there is no report of death after November 3.

The Samajwadi Party today received another setback when national secretary Jang Bahadur Singh Patel, member of the twelfth Lok Sabha from Phulpur, resigned from the party's primary membership.
On September 1, senior Samajwadi Party leader Atiq Ahmad, MLA from Allahabad West, had resigned from the party and the assembly to protest against Yadav's alleged dictatorial attitude.
Patel, who won Phulpur in the 1996 and 1998 Lok Sabha elections as a Samajwadi Party candidate, was denied a ticket this time.

The Rs 100-crore expansion project of Iffco's Phulpur plant is all set to be commissioned before 1997 end, a month ahead of schedule, but is likely to face a short supply of naphtha.
Iffco, Bhatt said, is now monitoring stock level of naphtha on a daily basis.Though the new plant will have the facility of utilising gas as an input, branching of one pipeline from HBJ pipeline at Jagdishpur, about 150 km from Phulpur, will not be a cost-efficient solution, he said.
Iffco Phulpur unit is required to meet the urea demand of the eastern states following the closure of some fertiliser units and low-capacity utilisation of the few existing plants in the region.

New Delhi, Oct. 4 (PTI): IFFCO today unveiled capacity expansion plans of its four plants at Phulpur and Aonla in the next two years along with converting the Phulpur units to LNG from Naptha, entailing a cost of Rs 480 crores.
While the expansion of the four units -- Phulpur I & II and Aonla I & II -- would yield an additional 5.11 lakh tonnes urea annually, the conversion to LNG would save Rs 365 crores in subsidy to the Government every year, according to a release by the Indian Farmers Fertlizer Cooperative Ltd. here.
The capacity of Phulpur I will be increased to 2080 MTPD from the present 1670 MTPD and that of Phulpur II, Aonla-I and II will be raised to 3000 MTP each from the existing 2620 MTPD.

At least 41 people, including 31 security personnel, were killed and the Samajwadi Party candidate in Phulpur (UP) was among 30 injured in poll-related violence in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and other states which went to the polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections today.
In Bihar, which bore the brunt of the violence, at least 33 people, including 29 security personnel and two polling officials, were killed and eleven injured in a series of mine blasts, set off by suspected Naxalite groups who had given a poll boycott call, and encounters, police said.
Dharam Raj Singh, the SP candidate in Phulpur (Reserved), was injured in a clash between his supporters and BJP workers in Haripur.
