Piero di Cosimo de' Medici - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bust of Piero de' Medici by Mino da Fiesole.
Piero de' Medici (the Gouty), Italian Piero "il Gottoso" (1416 – December 2, 1469), was the de facto ruler of Florence from 1464 to 1469, during the Italian Renaissance.
Piero was warned by Giovanni Bentivoglio, and was able to escape the coup, in part because his son Lorenzo discovered a road-block set up by the conspirators to capture his father; he was not recognized, and was able to warn his father.

 Article on Piero, page 1
The 500th anniversary of Piero's death in 1492-he died on almost the very day Columbus reached the new world- was marked with symposia and exhibitions devoted to his art, even including computer-generated demonstrations of his perspective illusions [1].
Piero was a painter, and the great revolution in painting in the 1400's was the introduction of linear perspective.
Piero says in his dedication that he intends the Libellus to be his memorial, (3) a notion that will strike some as incomprehensible.

 Piero della Francesca
He says that Piero became blind at the age of sixty, which cannot be true, as he continued painting some years later; but skepticism need perhaps hardly go to the extent of inferring that he was never blind at all.
Hence it has been propounded that Piero lived to the patriarchal age of ninety-four or upwards; but, as it is now stated that he was buried in 1492, we must infer that there is some mistake in relation to Pacioli's remark -- perhaps the date of writing was several years earlier than that of publication.
Piero was known to have left a manuscript of his own on perspective; this remained undiscovered for a long time, but eventually was found by E. Harzen in the Ambrosian library of Milan, ascribed to some supposititious "Pietro, Pittore di Bruges." The treatise shows a knowledge of perspective as dependent on the point of distance.

Alessandro Del Piero - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Usually, Del Piero plays as a support-striker and occasionally between the midfield and the strikers (in the hole), known in Italy as the "Trequartista" position.
Del Piero made his Serie A debut against Foggia in September 1993, scored his first goal in his next game against Reggiana after appearing as a substitute, and then grabbed a hat-trick against Parma on his first start.
Del Piero struggled for form at the beginning of the 1998-99 season, whilst doping allegations were aimed at Juventus (they were later found innocent).

 Article on Piero, part 2
Piero's most sophisticated geometrical result is probably in Libellus Book IV, Problems 10 and 11: the volume and surface area of a cross vault, the chamber formed by the intersection of two equal right circular cylinders whose axes intersect at right angles.
Piero had already described the perspective rendering of a cross vault in De Prospectiva Pingendi, and it is clear that his geometric intuition for this situation is very good-- perhaps too good.
The only book-length study of Piero's mathematical treatises maintains that the geometry of the Libellus derives from his art and intends to be useful to artists, a view which seriously misunderstands what is going on mathematically, and which is not representative of current thinking in the field.

Intensely positive, intensely charismatic, intensely charming, Piero is a cosmologist, a visionary, a realist, a dancer, a chef, a Master of Ceremonies, a healer, a maestro.
Piero explains: " Once we discover our existence is not limited to itself - that we do indeed have volume, the volume of what we are becomes volumeless...the new work expresses, through pigments and elemental forms, that discovery.
Piero Resta is involved in a cosmological undertaking which deals with weight and weightlessness, using volume to find volumelessness - a point of non-being to find being.

 Piero P. Foa --- Eulogies
Piero’s lifelong connection with the mountains and the lessons they teach, his unbounded and tenacious curiosity, and his passion for scientific inquiry stand out as important influences for me.
As a father, Piero on countless occasions reflected that this experience was in fact a personal blessing since it gave him the opportunity to meet Naomi and to create the life in America that he truly enjoyed for the next 66 years…the life that we are here to remember and to celebrate.
In this I feel great pride…for Piero was a consummate teacher – creative, resourceful, always prepared, utterly respectful of his students regardless of their age and level, and, at his peak, uniquely able to translate complexity and create understanding.
