March 14, written 3-14 in the USA date format, is an unofficial celebration for Pi Day derived from the common three-digit approximation for the number π: 3.14.
Another day of approximation is on the 355th day of each year at 1:13pm, based on the approximation value of 355/113 derived by Zu Chongzhi.
Another Pi Approximation Day is November 10 (or November 9, depending on whether it is a leap year or not.) This is the 314th day of the year on the Gregorian calendar.

I've never heard of that one, but there is Pi Day, which is March 14 (3/14).
Calling 3.14 "Pi" and 22/7 "pi approximation" is awfully decimal-centric, especially since the latter is closer to the true value of pi.

Pi Day is also my birthday, and so I had it tattooed onto my person.
My birthday was the day before pi day, but my dorky brother sent me a happy pi day email on the 14th instead of a happy birthday email on the 13th.

Memorizing pi is a step forward in the search for a pattern in pi, and in general, for finding regularity in chaos.

If you you write in the format month-day-year then pi day would be march 14th, 3-14-current year.

I use Pi as a way of introducing my students to the idea of an irrational number.
After studying decimals that terminate or repeat, I ask them to bring in a can and we compare the circumference to the diameter by dividing C by d.
I have them make a Pi necklace to reinforce the idea that some numbers never repeat or end.
