  Pi3 Orionis 2?
It lies at the western edge (04:49:50.41+06:57:40.59, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Orion, the Hunter -- southeast of Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri), south of Pi1 and Pi2 Orionis, and north of Pi4 Orionis.
Pi3 Orionis A is a New Suspected Variable designated NSV 1731.
Pi3 Orionis B? According to the Yale Bright Star Catalogue, 1991 5th Revised Edition notes entry for HR 1543, its visual companion may be optical.

 Encyclopedia: Orion (constellation)
According to the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, a red giant is a large non-main sequence star of stellar classification K or M; so-named because of the reddish appearance of the cooler giants.
Bellatrix (γ Ori / γ Orionis / Gamma Orionis) is the third brightest star in the constellation Orion and the twenty-second brightest star in the nighttime sky.
Tabit (π3 Orionis / π3 Ori / Pi3 Orionis) or is the brightest star in the lions hide (or shield) that Orion is holding.

 Daedalus (Pi-3 Orionis IV)
When the Heterosemiotics and a grab bag of minor backyarder clans launched the Turing towards Pi 3 Orionis from an Oort base in 438, it was after a lengthy series of corporate, terrorist and ideological intrigues that brought them the necessary equipment.
Of course, among the backyarders the Heterosemiotic effort became viewed as an example that it really was possible for a small group to set off on their own.
The fateful selection of Pi 3 Orionis appears to have been due to the conviction among the Heterosemiotics (largely due to groupthink and technophiliac prejudice) that the first expedition had completely failed.

 Pi 3 Orionis
Exactly why they chose the star is uncertain; the charismatic leader Germund Dahlberg seems to have been convinced that the Indonesian expedition had been lost, possibly due to some engineering analysises that had been made in the early 40’s suggesting that the Chinese design was flawed.
There is also the possibility that they needed to get to a planet faster than anybody else, and Pi3 was the only suitable choice.
In 2108 the Turing arrived to Pi 3 Orionis IV, which they named Daedalus.

 Chi1 Orionis 2
It lies in the northeastern corner (05:54:22.98+20:16:34.23, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Orion, the Hunter -- northwest of NGC 2169 and north of Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis).
Its binary nature was discovered by Sarah Lee Lippincott and Michael D. Worth from astrometric analysis of photographic plates made from 1937 to 1977.
The distance from Chi1 Orionis A where an Earth-type planet would be "comfortable" with liquid water is centered within 1 AU -- around inside the orbital distance of Earth in the Solar System.

 Orion
Another interesting star is sigma Orionis, situated just under the belt: seen with a small telescope, it shows to be a white-blue star accompanied by well three more weak stars; this gives the impression to see a planet with three satellites.
Starting from Alnitak and going southwards, you can find the weak nebula IC 434 (on the right), on a side of which there is the Horsehead Nebula, a cloud of dark dusts that extraordinarily resembles a horse.
In the sky Orion is represented while he is raising the shield (that is the arc of stars denominated pi Orionis) and the cudgel (chi1 and chi2 Orionis) to defend himself from Taurus which is charging him.

Encyclopedia of Suns: Pi 3 Orionis   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Orionis is one of the most luminous stars in the Encyclopedia, at just under three times the luminosity of the Sun.
Orionis is also the closest main sequence star of spectral type F; most of the stars in the Encyclopedia are in the cooler, less luminous types G and K. It and Gamma Pavonis are the two hottest stars in the Encyclopedia.
Although its age is unknown, Pi Orionis is unlikely to be any older than the Sun.

Miscellanous Technology   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
This is the secret of Pi3 Orionis; while the other colonies know about their existence they have not yet managed to get a sample.
When given the right signal it will open (otherwise it will explode; boobytraps are extremely common on Pi3) and release its contents.
While in principle it could be re-used indefinitely, it tends to stunt the growth around the site and become easy to find.

 Orion

A process expedition to Pi3 Orionis return with disturbing reports that the local cracking systems know about not just New America but also Nova software protocols, signs of past contact.
Theories about the existence of large-scale metaintelligence on the planet are fuelled further.
The Nova viruses might be due to secret attempts to scavenge Pi3 technology, such as the new autofacs that are being marketed on Nova by a research consortium.
