In July 2006, it was announced that Scottish alternative rock group Idlewild would sign to Pye Records, which was being reactivated by the music group Sanctuary for bands that were seen to be more indie and alternative, than the 'heritage acts' that were signed to their main label.

Piccadilly Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pye Records formed Piccadilly Records in the early 1960s as an outlet for new acts, including Joe Brown and the Bruvvers, Clinton Ford, The Rockin' Berries, Sounds Orchestral and, later on, the Ivy League who metamorphosed into the memorable Flower Pot Men, famous for their Summer of Love anthem "Let's Go to San Francisco".
Piccadilly Records is also known for being the host label to one of the most cutting-edge bands of the 60's, that being The Sorrows.
It was closed in the seventies together with Pye Golden Guinea Records and was replaced by Dawn Records.

Recorded shortly after the band spent six weeks in New York gigging and recording their debut album "To Each", the set is unusual in that the band choose to concentrate on lesser-known album tracks rather than singles.
Originally released on Factory Records in 1981, "Sextet" mixes post-punk funk, heavy African, latin and Brazilian influences with New York dance sounds, all played with that scratchy, atmospheric ACR sound, showing them to be way ahead of their time, and one of the most influential bands of the 80s.
Originally recorded back in Canada with his usual music partner DJ Fase in 2001, imports trickled into the UK, which is how DJ Format found out about Abdominal, and got him to add vocals to "Music For The Mature B-Boy".

One of the most attractive British labels, Piccadilly was introduced in October 1928 as the budget line for Metropole Records, though the labels all state Piccadilly Records Ltd with no mention of Metropole.
Jimmy's recordings with Joe Loss and his band in 1933 and 1934 were recorded for the Winner label, as were his recordings, made over the same period, as 'The Masked Singer'.
The recording quality was good, but the very tight grooving (similar to, but not as fine a "4 in1") meant that they could quickly become very worn.

Records were usually issued under pseudonyms (almost all dance records issued as Curry's Dance Orch).
It is not known how many Piccadilly records were overlabelled in this manner, but from my experience, the concentration is on the earlier records - the highest I have is number 452.
