Pictor, mythology, history, characteristics and observations by telescope
Pictor or the painter, at first was known like the Small horse of the Painter, since French astronomer Nicolas Louis of the Caille introduced it in century XVIII with the name of Equuleus Pictoris.
Pictor, is a small constellation of 200º square hair net from skies of visible Europe and in the South hemisphere from the months of September to April, culminating to high altitude.
Pictor limits the east with the constellations of Caelum and Dorado, to the south with Volans and Dorado, to the east with Carina and Puppis and to the north with the constellations of Columba and Caelum.

Pictor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pictor (IPA: /ˈpɪktə/, Latin: easel) is one of the minor southern (declination -50 to -60) constellations.
Pictor is a small, faint constellation located between brilliant Canopus and the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Pictor has attracted attention in recent years because of its second-brightest star β Pictoris, 62.9 light-years distant, which is surrounded by an unusual dust disk rich in carbon.

Meade Instruments Corporation - Pictor Series CCD Autoguider/Imagers
In the Meade Pictor 416XT CCD Imager, for example, the squares (pixels) used to cover the incoming image are about 0.0004" (0.01mm) on a side and shades of gray from pure fl to pure white are represented by 65,536 digits.
Before the advent of the Meade Pictor Series your statement was often true: CCD imaging usually required a knowledge of PC techniques and a flair for working with a rather complex piece of hardware.
Meade Pictor 208XT and 216XT CCD imagers were designed with one overriding thought in mind: to make high-performance CCD imaging and autoguiding available to the thousands of amateur astronomers throughout the world who were discouraged from entering the field because of the relatively high prices of previous CCD imaging cameras.

 Pictor A
Pictor A is one of the very few nearby FR-II type radio galaxies with a core bright enough to study routinely using standard very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) techniques.
Thus, it may be that the Pictor A jet lies significantly closer to our line of sight than that of Cygnus A. A comparison of the optical emission lines from the nuclei of these two galaxies would seem to support this suggestion.
Filippenko 1985), indicating that the Pictor A accretion disk may be more face on or less obscured by a dusty torus than that in Cygnus A. If the jet deflection hypothesis is correct then the large-scale radio jet must undergo additional bending, so that the jet reaches the north-west lobe hotspot.
