Abra is a landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon.
Abra's inhabitants are mostly descendants of Ilocano settlers and members of the Tingguian tribe.
Abra is hemmed in by the towering mountain ranges of the Ilocos in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.

PIDIGAN, Abra (2 March) -- If there are fruit vegetables sold in the public markets in Bangued, the provincial capital town of Abra, as early as the months of September to October, these are definitely, no longer imported from the nearby provinces of Ilocos and Pangasinan.
Farmers in the low-lying barangays of Pidigan particularly Brgy San Diego have considered venturing into vegetable farming these past few years to become the vegetable bowl of the town.
In an interview with Pidigan Municipal Agriculturist Marlita O. Basingan, the Pidigan LGU has sustained this effort of the farmers in this town by providing regular allocations in their 20 percent economic development funds.

PIDIGAN, Abra (22 February) -- In line with the one-town-one-product policy (OTOP) program of the Arroyo administration, the municipal agriculture office of the local government unit of Pidigan in Abra, continue to support farmers in the production of corn.
In an interview with Oliveros-Basingan, the municipal agriculturist of LGU-Pidigan, the local government has increased its allocation for fertilizer loans to their farmer-cooperators despite their pressing need for funds for the on-going construction of their municipal building which swallowed up the greatest bulk of their local revenues of 2005 and 2006.
It must be noted that Pidigan is the corn cluster pilot area of the Cordillera region with full support from various agencies in the form of farm-to-market roads, farm implements, post-harvest facilities, and fertilizer loans assistance.
