December 21: New Vote on the parking garage proposal by the PPC Board which approved the 800 car deck plan again, but this time the public was allowed to be present.
The PPC is developing some strategies to improve underutilized portions of the Park, but buried in those plans is a proposal to construct the parking deck, primarily to serve the private interests of PPC and ABG (e.g., events such as weddings and corporate meetings).
In the 1970's cars were banned from driving through Piedmont Park to make it a more tranquil place, to eliminate vehicular conflicts with pedestrians, and to return parkland to "park" purposes.

As information about the parking deck is shared with the public, more and more groups are voicing their opposition to it and are urging the City to develop a better solution.
