Pierre Charles Le Monnier (November 23, 1715 – May 31, 1799) was a (The Romance language spoken in France and in countries colonized by France) French (A physicist who studies astronomy) astronomer.
He was born in (The capital and largest city of France; and international center of culture and commerce) Paris, where his father Pierre (1675-1757), also an astronomer, was professor of (The rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics) philosophy at the college d'Harcourt.
Le Monnier was admitted in 1739 to the (An honorary English society (formalized in 1660 and given a Royal Charter by Charles II in 1662) through which the British government has supported science) Royal Society, and was one of the one hundred and forty-four original members of the Institute.
