  Pierre Harmel
Pierre Charles José Marie Harmel (born March 16, 1911) was a Belgian lawyer, Christian Democratic politician and diplomat.
Pierre Harmel represented Belgium at the fourth session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1949.
Pierre Harmel was Minister of Justice in the second government led by Gaston Eyskens (June 23, 1958 - November 6, 1958), and then Minister of Culture (November 6, 1958 - September 3, 1960) and Minister of the Civil Service (September 3, 1960 - April 25, 1961) in the third Eyskens cabinet.

Born in Hungary on 4 October 1932, Viscount Étienne Davignon is one of the great names of politics and business in Belgium and Europe.
In 1964, he became Head of Cabinet in the government of Paul-Henri Spaak, and kept his post in the government of Pierre Harmel (formed in 1965).
Author of the "Davignon Report" on "the best way of making progress in the field of political unification with a view to the enlargement of the European Communities", he would be an influential member of the European Commission from 1977 to 1985.

Concerned about the impact of these decisions on the Alliance, Belgian Foreign Minister Pierre Harmel proposes that a study should be undertaken on the Future Tasks of the Alliance, thereby emphasising the goals which lay ahead rather than the problems of the past.
Known as the Harmel Report, its conclusions, adopted by the North Atlantic Council in December 1967, establish a substantial programme of work, including the task of seeking a more stable relationship with the East.
The North Atlantic Council approves the Harmel Report on the Future Tasks of the Alliance.

Only the Chateau Saint-Anne estate met their needs; moreover it was exceptionally located next to the Chateau de Val Duchesse, birthplace of United Europe, where the Treaty of Rome was elaborated.
In 1968, Mr Pierre Harmel, Minister of Foreign Affairs, officially handed over Chateau Sainte-Anne to the Association.
The International Club Chateau Sainte-Anne was created in 1969 under the responsibility of the Maison Européenne de Val Duchesse as a corporate club with all the meeting and sporting facilities as well as two restaurants.
