Pierre Lescot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Though Lescot was confirmed in his position after the king's death by his heir Henri II, and though he worked at the Louvre project until his death, only the west side and part of the south side were completed, comprising the present southwest wing of the Cour Carré, the Aile Lescot, or "Lescot Wing".
Lescot's career is so scantily documented it is not known whether he ever visited Italy, or whether his knowledge of Italian practice was derived through the architecture and engravings that issued from the School of Fontainebleau.
Although, according to a letter from Ronsard, Pierre Lescot busied himself zealously in early youth making drawings and paintings, and, after his twentieth year, with mathematics and architecture, his wealth and the duties of his offices appear subsequently to have interfered with his artistic activity.

Pierre Lescot Biography / Biography of Pierre Lescot Biography
Pierre Lescot was probably born in Paris of a family sufficiently prosperous to provide him with an education in the liberal arts, for the poet Pierre de Ronsard, a fellow courtier, recorded that Lescot had a natural talent for painting and that he had studied mathematics and architecture.
Lescot's major surviving monument is the Cour Carrée (Square Court, 1546-1551) of the Louvre Palace in Paris.
Nothing is known of Lescot after the death of Henry II in 1559, though the architect lived another 19 years.

Paris - The Louvre Of Lescot And Goujon
Lescot planned it, but Pierre Chambige carried it out, under Charles IX and Catherine de Medicis, and it is to their epoch that belongs the facade with its allegorical figures due to the chisel of Barthelemy Prieur.
The chef-d'oeuvre, then, of Lescot and Goujon is the facade of the court facing the east, in the left-hand angle of the square.
Lescot seems to have dropped out of the work on the Louvre under Catherine de Medicis, but Jean Goujon continued his embellishments until the day of his death, which occurred on the fateful day of the massacre.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Pierre Lescot
Francis I took him into his service, and by this king and his successors, Lescot was rewarded with many honours and with a benefice.
It has been thought that, even in architectural matters, Lescot was very dependent upon his friend though the latter named him with Philibert de L'Orme as the most eminent architects of France, and the accounts for the building of the Louvre designate Lescot as the architect and Goujon as the sculptor.
The rest of Lescot's works are few in number; he appears not to have sought much for opportunities to build.
