The solution put forward by Dr Sean Barrett and Dr Pieter Kok, working at HP Laboratories Bristol, is to put every qubits in its own box, so that they cannot directly talk to each other.
Their solution works like this: a detection system is arranged so that when an emitted photon is registered, it is impossible to tell -- even in principle -- which qubit it came from.
This problem is solved in Barrett and Kok’s scheme by a clever re-run of the interaction process.

Quantum Information Processing - Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration
QIP IRC members Dr Simon Benjamin and Dr Pieter Kok discuss quantum computing with graph states with Quentin Cooper on The Material World, BBC Radio 4.
The considered setup consists of a network of single stationary qubits (like trapped atoms, molecules, ions, quantum dots or nitrogen-vacancy colour centres) inside optical cavities, which act as a source for the generation of single photons on demand.
As shown recently by Barrett and Kok [5], it is possible to use entangling operations with arbitrarily high photon losses to efficiently generate graph states for one-way quantum computing [10]: A so-called "double-heralding" scheme employs two rounds of photo-detection which eliminate unwanted separable contributions to the density matrix.

Preparing multi-partite entanglement of photons and matter qubits   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-02)
We show how to make event-ready multi-partite entanglement between qubits which may be encoded on photons or matter systems.
Entangled states of matter systems, which can also act as single photon sources, can be generated using the entangling operation presented in Barrett and Kok (2004 Preprint quant-ph/0408040).
We show how to entangle such sources with photon qubits, which may be encoded in the dual-rail, polarization or time-bin degrees of freedom.
