Pietro Paolo Savorgnandi Brazzà, best known as Pierre Paul François Camille Savorgnan de Brazza (January 26, 1852 - September 14, 1905) was a Franco-Italian explorer, born in Italy and later naturalized French.
Born in Rome, Pietro Paolo di Brazzà he was the seventh son of Count Ascanio Savorgnandi Brazzà, a nobleman of Udine with many French connections.
Pietro won entry to the French naval school at Brest, graduated as an ensign, and went on the Jeanne d'Arc to Algeria, where he was horrified to see French troops shooting down Kabyle insurgents.
The Alfani kept it up to 1874 when it was purchased by the Count Cesare Meniconi Bracceschi and his wife Maddalena Savorgnandi Brazzà, sister of Pietro Brazzà, the famous explorer of Congo, after whom the city of Brazzaville was named.
In 1918 her daughter Anna Meniconi Bracceschi married the count Pieralvise di Serego Alighieri, at the time the only descendent of the poet Dante, who lived in a property near Verona that had been purchased in 1352 by Pietro, the son of the great poet.
