The Pilot ACE was one of the first computers built in the United Kingdom, at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the late 1940s.
The Pilot ACE ran its first program on May 10, 1950 and was demonstrated to the press in December 1950.
The Pilot ACE was shut down in May, 1955, and was given to the Science Museum, where it remains today.

The ACE program standards are a basis by which the competency/safety of air show pilots are evaluated and recommendations made to the FAA and Transport Canada for the issuance of the appropriate aerobatic competency/safety credentials.
At the meeting, concerns shall be presented to the ACE or pilot and they shall have a reasonable opportunity to respond, after which the committee may, by at least a two-thirds majority vote, take or recommend appropriate action to remedy the situation.
If the ACE or pilot has an objection to any member of the ACE Committee participating in the process, the reasons for the objection shall be submitted at the same time as the response to the notice of complaint by the ACE Committee Chairman.

The Pilot ACE (Automatic Computing Engine) was one of Britain's earliest electronic stored- program computers and was built at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Teddington, Middlesex.
The computer was based on plans for a larger machine (the ACE) designed by the brilliant mathematician Alan Turing (1912-54), perhaps best known for his wartime code-breaking at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire.
