		17, 2006 12:00 AM Pima County officials fuming over the potential loss of the White Sox are urging a state board to reject use of public funds to build a $76.8 million Cactus League stadium in Phoenix for the Chicago baseball team and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
		Pima County Supervisor Ramon Valadez sent a letter Friday to the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority's top executive asking that the agency not approve money to construct a stadium on a chunk of land abutting Glendale.
		The Pima County supervisors also sent a letter this week to state Senate President-elect Tim Bee (R-Tucson) urging a legislative fix that would block the White Sox's possible move from Tucson to a publicly funded stadium.

		What the supervisors are proposing amounts to nothing less than county officials driving up to a homestead in Rio Rico and demanding funds for Tucson's sewer system from the property owner while pointing a shotgun at him or her.
		There is very little privately owned land left in Pima County, and having the supervisors decide where we can and cannot live in the future is simply an affront to the people's free will and rights of self-determination.
		Given the obvious duplicity supervisors display in regard to development activities within the county, Pima County residents should be naturally inclined to "just say no" to the magical Bond Fairy and to demand more accountability and adherence to free-market principles from their leaders.
