On the side of Epirus the main line of communication passed over that part of Pindus which was called Mount Lacmon, and descended the upper valley of the Peneius to Aeginium in the north-west angle of Thessaly.
Another pass through the Pindus chain was that of Gomphi, farther south, by means of which there was communication with the Ambracian Gulf.
The Turkish inhabitants were settled in the larger towns, and here and there in the country districts, the most important colony being those called Koniarates, who were brought from Konia in Asia Minor shortly before the taking of Constantinople, and planted under the south-west angle of Olympus.

But it is clear that it chiefly concerns those living between Pindus, the Dodona mountains and the Strymon, in other words the Macedonians whose royal house traced its descent to the Argive Temenids.
Thus, the poet who is the bearer par excellence of pan-Hellenic traditions and ideals, the fighter at Salamis and singer of the all-Greek surge against the invader from Asia, believes Macedonia to be a Greek land, and broadcasts its royal house's descent, according to Greek legend, from the Hellenic pantheon.
Besides, Heracles who first sacrificed goats and was worshipped by the Dorian branch of Greeks, was the principal national hero of the Macedonians, claimed as the ancestor of their Argaeo-Temenid kings.

The Pindus Plaintiffs do not contend the order is a "final judgment" within the meaning of 28 U.S.C. Accordingly, if we are to find jurisdiction over this appeal, we must seek it in one of the few, narrow exceptions to the final judgment rule.
The appellants argue we may review the order immediately because it (1) operates as an effective denial of a motion to intervene; (2) is a collateral order; and (3) falls under the pragmatic finality doctrine.
The appellants are Lawrence B. Hollin, Kenneth Steiner, Charles Miller, Lynn Gilbert, Sidney R. Carey, Pauline Chism and Gerald Pindus.

Terrestrial Ecoregions -- Pindus Mountains mixed forests (PA1217)
The Pindus Mountain Conifer and mixed broadleaf forests ecoregion extends geographically in a north-south direction from the mountain ranges of the Peloponese (Taiyetos, 2,404 m) to the central Greek Parnasos (Liakoura, 2,457 m; Giona, 2,510 m), Smolikas (2,637 m), and Olympus, (2917 m), to northern Albania and western FYROM (Perister, 2,601 m; Galicica, 2,255 m).
From the geological point of view, the Pindus mountain ranges belong to the Alpine orogenic system, distinguished by a very complex lithological composition.
According to historical data, at the end of the Antiquity, it appears that the Pindus mountain ranges had a very low human population, and tall forests prevailed widely throughout.
