Pinklon Thomas (born February 10, 1958) is a former boxer whose trademark pink boxing trunks and a left jab were key distinguishing characteristics.
After an impressive start to his professional career (which began after only a few amateur fights), Pinklon Thomas had trouble with his hands in terms of suffering injuries, but training from a martial arts expert enabled him to use his fists in ways such that he wouldn't be as susceptible to injuries while boxing.
Thomas' only defense, in which he emerged victorious, was a one-punch knockout of Mike Weaver (using his right hand instead of his left) to defend his crown in eight rounds, in June of 1985.

Pinklon Thomas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomas received his first national coverage and rankings when beating James Quick Tillis via 3-round KO in 1982, and in 1983 he fought former two-time title challenger Gerrie Coetzee, the hard hitting South African who would later win the WBA title.
Thomas came back and reeled off three kayo wins over journeymen, generally deemed unimpressive by the boxing press, before setting up a May 1987 challenge to WBC and WBA Heavweight champion Mike Tyson.
Thomas attempted one final comeback in 1992, beating 12 journeymen before outpointing former outstanding amateur turned rotund (280 ib) pro Craig Payne for the obscure IBO belt.

Pinklon Thomas: Mike was a real good fighter, but I also think at that time, he was vulnerable to get beat with the style that Buster Douglas ultimately used in beating him, which I thought I had as well.
Pinklon Thomas: At that time, I was very excited to get this fight because in Evander’s first fight at heavyweight, he fought “Quick” Tillis who I knocked out and he also beat.

Pinklon had enjoyed heroin for seven years (from the age of thirteen to twenty) before he decided to box.
In this case one would do well to remember that a life without any pleasurable drugs would not generally be that much longer or safer - but it certainly might seem a lot longer.
As if to emphasize this no-nonsense approach, Pinklon Thomas won the World Boxing Council heavyweight title - six years after ending his heroin use.

During that brief period of time when Pinklon Thomas was in his prime (W12 Tim Witherspoon, KO8 Mike Weaver), I think he was much better than Dokes ever was.
I can understand picking Thomas, he was more solid in his style, but more me, Dokes did a little more at the weight and showed as much toughness as anybody during that time period(even if he was a cokehead).
Seeing Thomas get out jabbed for good portions of his bout with Weaver (Yes, out jabbed by Weaver) and the horrid showing agianst Berbick really makes me question Thomas.
