I have a 6 year old beginning student and I have encountered a new technique problem: her right hand pinky finger is severely curved inward (towards the thumb) at the first joint.
I am having great difficulty teaching her the proper bow hold, as everytime she attempts to curve her pinky to "sit on the fence" her entire pinky finger collapses inward thus somewhat "crushing" the bow hold.
I, as a youngster, used to have a perpetually collapsing pinky, mostly because my highest joint (toward the pinky tip) is double-jointed.
