		Pinocchio was not commercially successful when first released, and Disney only recouped about half of its $2.3 million budget, which was due in part to poor timing, with the cut-off of European markets, due to World War II.
		Overall, Pinocchio is considered a true-blue classic today, and many film historians consider this to be the most technically perfect of all the Disney animated features while numerous people in general hail it as one of the most beautifully animated ever.
		Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Jiminy Cricket, as well as most of the other Pinocchio characters, appear as regular guest stars on Disney's House of Mouse.

		Pinocchio looks marvelous for such an old film, but some roughness to the image keeps it from reaching the stellar levels of quality achieved by some of the other Disney offerings.
		All in all, Pinocchio really looks quite good, and if I'd watched it independent of viewings of Lady and the Tramp and 101 Dalmatians, I might have thought it appeared even better, but the smoothness and clarity of those images makes Pinocchio's roughness seem more evident than it otherwise might.

		Only other non-Diz Pinocchio I can recall was "Pinocchio in Outer Space" (which used to air on TV a lot during the holiday seasons of the 70's).
		There was an animated movie, actually I believe there was more than one produced by filmation in the 80s.
		The only non-Disney animated movie that springs to mind is "Pinnochio and the Emperor of the Night." I remember this movie because when he arrives at that movie's version of Pleasure Island (can't recall what they named it) there were a lot of bright, neon lights--it had a very trippy look to it.
