The Pinoy rock scene has never died, it was always on the edge of the mainstream and was just waiting for the right time, or the right catalyst, to strike.
Kitchie’s album isn’t that groundbreaking, but it got the message across that Pinoy rock is alive and kicking and ultimately great to sing along to (we’ve got “Lovers in Paris” to thank for that).
It’s a good thing I lost my earlier attitude towards people who listen to Pinoy rock without getting what it was all about; the people who don’t give a flying fish about the evolution of this music and only want to hear what was new and “cool”.
