Pioneer Chicken was originally a Southern California fast-food restaurant specializing in chicken.
The chicken is still being sold with the same recipe, but a different name, and an altogether different country.
Beginning in 2002, the Pioneer Chicken located on Olympic Blvd. has become the official restaurant of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, catering to those who flock to Los Angeles yearly for a heaping dose of video game goodness.

Pioneer Chicken was mentioned in the late Warren Zevon Song Carmelita.

I remember the Pioneer Chicken chain from the two years I spent in Bakersfield when I was in high school.
The 3 Pioneer Chicken restaurants I've been to in the LA area are in Echo Park, Sunset Blvd. and Olympic Blvd. The one on Onlypic Blvd really SUCKS.
The chicken is dry and does not have that authentic Pioneer Chicken flavor.

Talking about Pioneer Chicken made me hungry, so I drove out to the Bell Gardens Pioneer Chicken on Florence and bought a bucket of chicken to take home (Well, they don't have buckets anymore, just white styrofoam boxes).
I remember Pioneer Chicken commercials when I was a kid.
The chicken strips weren't those "sticks" that they used to have, but the batter was the right taste.

During the 1980’s there was this fastfood chicken chain called Pioneer Chicken.
Well anyways, I recently found out that there are two Pioneer Chicken restaurants still left that did not convert to Popeye’s.
I went home and we settled for chicken at Boston Market…which by the way is no comparison to Pioneer Chicken.

Southern fried chicken is by far my favorite, you can normally find this stuff in bars and diners.
For me, I prefer the southern fried chicken for the the real deal, soul food restaurants will probably be your best bet.
Actually, the chicken is probably the best deal there for the price, and it is really good.

The KFC chicken pieces are mighty small, I don't think they are giving the chickens enough steroids.
I've been at a few that serve pretty good chicken, and others that really suck, but Kentucky has greater consistency and better quality all-round, even though there are places where it's not as good.
